About

Hi, my name is Morten. I’m a programmer and engineering leader. I love writing code that solves real problems, thinking in systems, and helping teams become stronger than the sum of their parts.

I’ve been part of the Danish tech scene for over 20 years now. Been part of startups where everyone wears five hats, scale-ups where you’re figuring out which processes actually matter, consultancies where you solve a different puzzle every few months, and multinationals where you learn that “simple” is never actually simple.
Somewhere along the way, I went from writing code to helping other people write better code to helping teams work better together. These days I’m VP of Engineering, which means I spend a lot of time in meetings, but still sneak off to write a bit of code when no one’s looking.

Authenticbits exists because I kept having the same conversations over coffee with other engineering leaders. Turns out we’re all figuring out similar stuff: how to hire people who fit, how to scale without breaking everything, how to ship features while keeping the lights on, and how to sleep at night when you’re responsible for both the systems and the humans. So I write about it here.

I still code when I can steal a few hours. I have way too many Raspberry Pi projects that are “almost finished,” and I love thinking about software architecture while I’m running, which probably explains why I’m not faster. I’m the kind of person who fills notebook after notebook with ideas and doodles while drinking what Twin Peaks would call “damn fine coffee,” though I’m not nearly as mysterious as Agent Cooper.

If you want to talk about distributed systems, share war stories about production incidents, or just say hi, you can find me on Linkedin or email me at authenticbitsnet@gmail.com.
